Who can use the site
You need to be old enough to make a contract in Alberta. Use your own name when you sign in. Do not pretend to be a neighbour if you are a dealership or a company.
Prohibited items
- No firearms, ammunition, or gun parts.
- No gift-card or wire deals. Those are how scams work.
- No stolen goods, and nothing the law says you cannot sell.
Buying and selling is between you
A listing is an invitation to talk. The sale is between the buyer and the seller, at your own risk. Paddle & Trade does not own the item, does not inspect it, and is not a party to the deal.
Meet in public
Meet at a public Safe Spot: a library, a recreation centre, or the RCMP detachment. Look at the item before you pay. Cash or Interac e-Transfer at the meetup.
Moderation and appeals
The administrator can hide a listing, close a chat, or pause an account. You can send one appeal and ask for the decision to be looked at again. A miss after you are marked at a meetup counts. Three misses and you cannot buy until an appeal is restored. You can still sell. Saying the other person did not show does not count by itself.
Paddle Coins
Paddle Coins have no cash value. They are not a bank balance and they cannot be cashed out.
Paddle Hold, when payments launch
Payments are not live. Nothing on this site charges a card today. When Paddle Hold launches, money for a deal can sit until both people confirm at the meetup. If the sale is cancelled before that, the hold is meant to be refunded. The exact refund steps will be written here before that switch is turned on. Until then, pay the other person in person.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided as it is. To the extent Alberta law allows, [YOUR BUSINESS NAME] is not liable for a bad item, a missed meetup, a lost message, or a deal that goes wrong between users. Do not use the site for anything you cannot afford to lose.
Alberta law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the laws of Canada that apply here. Disputes are for the courts of Alberta.
