The short version

Ads, chats, photos, a phone number, and your location stay in this browser. We do not sell them. Signing in with Google or a phone number is a separate account. It does not yet carry your ads or chats to another phone.

What stays on this device

• Ads you post, photos, prices, and saved ads.
• Safe Chat, town chat, and the name you pick there.
• Reviews, events you save, jobs, and notices.
• Wallet amounts, coins, and any email you type for Stripe or Shop.
• An age range or “who you shop for,” if you fill that in on Account.

Short videos are stored in this browser too, next to the ad, not on a company server.

Location

We ask before we use it. If you tap Use my location, the browser shares coordinates so we can say how far an ad is. If you tap Not now, we do not guess a street. Those coordinates stay on this device. We do not sell them.

Phone check

Safety can save a 10-digit phone number and mark you verified. The code is made on this page. We do not send a text message, and we do not give that number to a phone company.

Chat

Safe Chat blocks phone numbers, emails, gift cards, wire, and Interac in the message box. The thread is stored here. A reply you see is written by the site on this device. It is not a message from another neighbor’s phone.

Sign-in

Google or phone sign-in can be a real account. That session is separate from the ads and chats saved in this browser. You can browse without an account. Saving an ad asks you to sign in when accounts are turned on, then brings you back to the same ad.

Money buttons

Buy now, Google Pay, Shop, Stripe, and a bank link do not charge a card and do not send money to a bank. Google Pay on this site is a test. A typed email is kept on this device only.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not put ads and chats in a shared database yet.
• We do not claim your messages are encrypted between two people.

If you open Google Maps for a trail, you leave this site and Google’s own rules apply.

How to delete it

Clear this site’s data in your browser settings. That removes ads, chats, the phone number, location, and the wallet stored here. It does not close a Google account.
